OHSAA officially sanctioned Girls' Wrestling in the state of Ohio in 2023. The OHSAA media release can be viewed here. This is a great opportunity for girls in the area to grow the sport of Wrestling!

June 15, 2023: Good Morning America video "Trailblazing Women: Meet a women’s wrestling pioneer" features Afsoon Johnston, a two-time world medalist and USA Olympic wrestling coach, talks adversity on and off the mat. ABC News' Alexis Christoforous reports. 

March 26, 2023: CBS Sunday Morning video "Girls wrestling: Pinning down respect" discusses how girls' wrestling has been called the fastest-growing high school sport in the country. Correspondent Rita Braver talks with young athletes who are finding their power and earning respect on the mat; and with Sally Roberts, a former wrestling champion and founder of the advocacy organization Wrestle Like a Girl.


March 13, 2023: Girls wrestling takes major step in Ohio with 1st OHSAA sanctioned tournament. Over 14,000 filled Value City Arena as 14 girls wrestling champs were crowned in an event sanctioned, for the first time, by the Ohio High School Athletic Association.
